Social Pillar General v0.2.7 #

BIGGEST THING TO BARE IN MIND: No one wants talking or normal conversations to be slower, the area you’d like to improve is likely going to be disputes/arguments/etc with proper/high stakes, more specifically the areas where the GM will ask for some form of check. (Persuasion, Intimidation, etc)

Social Encounters (The social version of combat encounters) Initiative Literal speed is less important than mental speed so maybe INT/WIS = Init. Mod (makes CHA not the only social stat) Need to define actions (Reading body language = insight?) Need “social damage types” (Things like flattery, seduction, provocation, threats, honour, shock) PCs and NPCs alike should likely have resistances or outright immunity to certain “social damage types” Resolve/Ego functions as your Social Encounter Hit Points “social damage” chips away at your characters Resolve Resolve might be Wis based? (To stop over reliance on Cha) Allies being reduced to 0 hp in combat inflicts resolve damage (or makes the vulnerable to morale damage) Doubled if lethal Partially reduced if revived When resolve broken (unless restored), locked out of exerting social pressure/taking social actions In Intense Social Encounter this is similar to being reduced to 0 hp in a combat encounter Severe hits to other people’s views of you and you own morale Doesn’t just mean you’re depressed, could also mean you’re too enraged, etc.

“Social Classes” tied to backgrounds(?) Few people can evoke the call to Honour like a Knight or Noble etc.

Personality & Moods Much like when good creature designers make note of what role in combat a Creature is meant to play Personalities could likely determine which “social damage types” PCs and NPCs have resistance/vulnerabilities to Along similar lines or in addition to, we have moods, some characters may be open to different approaches However, time and place is sometimes more important than just having winning words

Potential Additional Stats? Allow player characters to choose an additional stat that their character can focus on & increase Unchosen stats default to 8 Non-core stats, you don’t need them to live (I.e. could be 0?)

Social Damage Types: Reputation (Status) Honour (Character) Piety (Faith/Devotion) Morale Attraction (Style/Fashion/Hotness) Sanity (Occultism)
